Happy Mother's Day, Y'all

Surrogate moms have been around ages before the days of Mia, Angelina, and Madonna. In honor of moms of every shape, background, character and stripe, here are a few stories from the animal kingdom.

For the story about these baby owls and their surrogate stuffed Mommy, click here.

There was also the story of Finnegan the squirrel last year. He was adopted into a litter of puppies. Click here for some excellent photos.

Here's another surrogate Mother story of a 100-yr-old tortoise in Kenya that adopted a baby hippo after the Tsunami in 2005. Click here for details.

And finally, here's a story of a cat adopting a mouse. Will wonders never cease?

Thank goodness for women. Where would we be without mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends? Seriously, many women don’t even think twice about offering love and support to others. Women have so many great qualities that are often taken for granted. Thanks for sharing these wonderful pics. Maternal love is one of the greatest things in nature.
