China Closes Thousands of Websites

During my visit to China I would experience a great deal of difficulty accessing the Internet at times. Especially when clicking on blogs or wikis. My host explained that several thousand people had been recently hired to police Internet usage and to close down sites, as this online article attests. Freedom on the Internet, as we all know, is not for everyone.

True.

The US govt and companies (like the one that we are using with this blog --and mine as well) are so keen to make money with China that they are utterly spineless in dealing with their restrictions on freedom.

Of course under our current government we increasingly don't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to talking about freedom and human rights.
