great post! I saw Venus at the Uffizi in November. Breathtaking in person. I also loved "La Primavera", probably even better.

Uncle Sal was border-line obsessed with Venus images. Between sketches, sculptures, paintings,furniture inlays and sex-toys, it's believed he used her about 10 thousand times.

P.S. A five dollar bill he drew with a BLUE WRITING PEN on a Hotel Notepad is in the US Treasury Department's Museum as a sublime example of counterfeiting. He drew it while quite bored at an artist's symposium.
