BP's PR Gone Wrong - Tony Hayward Says ...


BP CEO Tony Hawyard's pronouncements:

"We are going to defend the beaches. We will fix this."

"What they hell have we (BP) done to deserve this?"

"We will only win this if we can win the hearts and minds of the local community."

"It was a bit bumpy to get it going. We made a few little mistakes early on."

"The Gulf of Mexico is a very big ocean. The amount of volume of oil and dispersant we are putting into it is tiny in relation to the total water volume."


"I think the environmental impact of this disaster is likely to have been very, very modest."

"It's not possible to measure the flow from the leak."

"There aren't any plumes."

BP CEO Attributes Oil Spill Cleanup Workers’ Illness To "Food Poisoning"

"I want my life back."

"We will make it all right."

He is despicable. So might, such a big guy, so wholly unaffected by the disaster in the Gulf. Really, all he has to do is go home to his pristine neighborhood with the other important people. All those scuzzy fishermen and guides and hotel operators? Who needs them? And pelicans, dolphins, gulls, turtles, fish... more little, unimportant creatures. Just not worth fretting about for a big, important, Master of the Universe like Tony Hayward.
