You've seen him in Vanity Fair and Mansfield Park and the mini series Rome, but you probably can't quite recall him. Well, guess no more. Remember Becky Sharpe's first husband in Vanity Fair and that wonderful scene of him sucking on her finger? Well, that was James seducing Reese Witherspoon. Oooh la la! Dandyism is alive and well!

When I saw these recent images on The Sartorialist, I realized the Dandy is alive and well and living among us today. Aside from wearing impeccable clothes, and paying attention to the tiniest details, a Dandy must have attitude. I'd say these men, such as Joseph Aboud at left, and Bruno Danto and Markus Ebner below, have that in spades.


George Brummel was the first Dandy to gain notoriety and widespread popularity. His legend for sartorial splendor lives on today. (See James Purefoy as Beau below.)
